Design Engineer

Xcel Mechanical Systems is seeking a Design Engineer to assist in the execution of large and complex mechanical and plumbing engineering projects across the Aerospace, Hospitals, Education and Commercial sectors. Career-minded candidates please note that we strongly encourage and support the process to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and/or develop technical design approaches and solutions through the project pursuit, award, preconstruction and implementation phases
  • Develop engineering concepts for project pursuits including collaborating with end users, owners, clients and internal project and engineering team members
  • Design and manage to Xcel Mechanical’s standard requirements to ensure all documents comply with and support the overall construction schedule
  • Support the Engineering Team’s efforts to ensure final construction documents comply with the original design intent
  • Provide design calculations, provide value engineering concepts with detailed analysis, alternate solutions, pricing of alternates, diagrams, code review for the sales, engineering and construction efforts
  • Conduct economic and energy analyses
  • Conduct CFD modeling of HVAC systems utilizing the latest modeling software
  • Prepare special reports, studies, and analyses as needed
  • Compose letters, memos, e-mail correspondence, reports, and procedures as required
  • Complete related duties as directed by senior engineers
